Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles) or between two teams of two players one male and one female (mix doubles) on a rectangular, leveled plane, more often than not covered with grass, clay, or of concrete and/or asphalt is the description of a Tennis court. Each player uses a racket that is strung to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court with the aim of scoring that an opponent cannot successfully return it.
The tennis equipment required for Tennis are as given below.
Balls
A tennis ball is a ball designed for the sport of tennis, with a diameter between 6.54 and 7.3cm and a weight between 56.0 and 59,49g. They must be yellow or white or bright green, but in recreational play can be virtually any color. Tennis balls are covered in a fibrous fluffy felt which modifies their aerodynamic properties. Tennis balls are usually green at main sporting events.
Court
A smooth, level playing area, covered with grass, clay or an artificial surface. The overall size of a tennis doubles court is 36 feet wide by 78 feet long. The singles court is slightly narrower measuring 27 feet wide. Both singles and doubles courts share the same length. The service court fits inside the singles width of the court (27 feet wide) and extends back from the net 21 feet. The service court is divided in half with a center line marking the left and right service courts.
The net is attached between two poles and divides with an equal distance the two sides of the court. The net measures 3 feet 6 inches high at the ends and 3 feet high at the middle tape. Typically the net standards are placed 3 feet outside the outer lines of the doubles court, making the net length a total of 42 feet from pole to pole. It is advisable to have a distance of a 12 foot perimeter on each side of the sidelines and 21 feet from each baseline to create enough playing area inside fencing and adjacent tennis courts.
Racket
A racket with a frame in wood, steel or graphite with a network of cord, catgut or nylon, stretched in an essentially elliptical frame.
